Catalyst for quality improvement

While the regular employee survey is primarily a measuring instrument, the Team Monitor is first and foremost a working and consultation instrument, a catalyst for improvements. The Team Monitor fulfils a number of conditions that are essential for actual improvement. Elsewhere on the website you can read how these 5 success-determining factors have been integrated into this management tool.

The Team Monitor can by means of a short questionnaire help the manager and co-workers to evaluate existing bottlenecks (and other key issues). The monitor provides very fast feedback and focuses on concrete action at team or department level. It helps to gain insight swiftly into effects of improvement actions and to adjust actions directly wherever appropriate. See the KLM TD case.

The on-line version of the Team Monitor consists of an electronic survey and a report generator, which shows the results real-time. Click for a demo.

A telling example of the above monitor is carried out by MICRA for KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). There are approximately 4,500 people working for E&M in a wide variety of jobs. These people work in some 300 teams of which more than 250 work with the Team Monitor by now.

The monitor questionnaire consists of 13 questions. These mostly address the bottlenecks that have been signalled in the most recent 'major' employee survey. The monitor questionnaire contains the key issues that have been selected on strategic grounds by the E&M management and provided with targets. Apart from this, two topical questions have been added that may vary per period

The results that the E&M has produced after more than one year (nearly half of the key issues show a significant improvement, while the other aspects show a slight increase) prove that the monitor forms a useful supplement to the regular employee survey.
